Clear communication with parents is an important part of the process. Parents are kept informed of progress and next steps, and guidance may be offered on how to support learning between sessions if appropriate.
Structured, evidence-based literacy support — delivered with care and clarity
At Tokyo Literacy Support, reading intervention is grounded in a structured literacy approach that is explicit, systematic, and tailored to each child’s individual learning profile. Sessions are designed to make reading feel logical, manageable, and achievable — especially for students who have struggled despite effort and intelligence.
All instruction follows the Connections OG in 3D program, an Orton-Gillingham–based approach widely used for students with dyslexia and dyslexia-related learning differences. The Connections OG in 3D program is accredited by the International Dyslexia Association, meeting their Knowledge and Practice Standards for structured literacy instruction.
This means that teaching is:
Each student is continually assessed to identify strengths, gaps, and learning patterns. From this, a personalized learning plan is developed and continually refined as the student progresses. Pacing and content are adjusted to ensure concepts are fully understood before moving on.
Sessions are calm, focused, and supportive. One-to-one lessons may include:
Progress is monitored continuously, and instruction is adjusted in response to the student’s needs.
Many children arriving for literacy support are bright, motivated, and frustrated. A core part of the approach is helping students rebuild confidence by making reading feel predictable and achievable.
Mistakes are treated as part of learning, not failure. Sessions are structured to support persistence, understanding, and a sense of success.
Sessions are offered primarily online, allowing for consistency and flexibility.
In-person sessions may be discussed on a case-by-case basis, subject to location and availability.
If you would like to discuss whether this approach is right for your child, you're welcome to get in touch to arrange an initial no obligation consultation.
